Locked out...

So, today Malak I were playing outside in the backyard. He cruised around in his sweet ride for a while,
he mowed the lawn and also the patio. Cause he's just a good helper like that. He started playing with the back door, opening and closing it... then, he went inside the house and closed the door which was no big deal until I heard the sound of the door locking. Aw, crap. Sure enough, it was locked and so was every other door to the house. I looked at him through the window and he just stood there sucking his thumb, laughing at me. Nice. Luckily, I had taken my laptop outside with us so I messaged Eric (who was at work) on Facebook and told him our little situation and he headed right over. (Facebook basically saved my life. Or Malak's. Or no ones. But still, it played a major role in our rescue) While I waited for him to come save us (about 20 minutes), I went to the front porch where we have a large front window so I could keep an eye on Malak. When I looked in the window at him he already had my phone in his hands (which is forbiden fruit in this house because he has a nasty habit of chucking it as hard as he can...ok, let's be honest, he chucks everything as hard as he can). He just looked at me and smiled and began texting someone. Then he decided to call a few people...4 people actually. He called my sister in law Jessica 3 times and would just yell, "Hewoooo?!" (hello). It was killing me to just stand there and watch him call completely random people in my phone book. Then he threw it, and the battery a faceplate flew off. He just looked up at me and said, "uh-oh, mommy phone, uh-oh". Grrrrrrr. Eric showed up at about that time and all was well. Later, I got a few calls from people wondering what was with the creepy phone call where "I" just breathed into the phone.
Good times.
In other news Malak also thinks it's funny to pick his nose. Sweet. He isn't looking for anything in there, he just likes the huge reaction it gets from me.
He has become quite the little kisser these days and of course, I am LOVING it! He's got a great set of lucious lips that I can't get enough of.
Yesterday it was cool and nice out (which is rare for Oklahoma) so we took a little trip to the zoo and had some good mother/son time. I am realizing how intentional I need to be about giving him my undevided attention. It is SO easy to get absorbed in things around the house or running errands or hanging out with our great friends and I realize that sometimes I just need to get on the floor and play with him- no interuptions, no phone calls or texts, no cleaning as we play, just being with my son and enjoying him in the place he is at right this moment. I have also noticed how much his temperament changes when he gets full-on mama time... he is so much more content and enjoyable. So it's a win-win situation. :)

Malak is cracking me up these days! He is talking SO much and it is quite entertaining!
This morning we were eating breakfast and in the matter of about 10 seconds he said:
(as if it were one long sentance)
"I want toast.
I want airplane.
I want sky.
I want help please.
I want snack.
I want diaper.
I want poo-poo.
I want strawberries.
I want go swimming.
I want Kathy." (his swimming lessons teacher)

Uhhhh, how is one supposed to respond to such a statement??

My favorite part is people imagining you calling them and just breathing into the phone. Priceless. Good call on the one-on-one time. I have to realize that myself with Mira. Even though we're home all day it doesn't mean we're actually playing with them. Glad it's working out in multiple ways!

So funny! That basically happened to me the other day too. Shawn took Carly out fishing so it was just me and Isaac. I went out to the garage to get something out of the deep freezer. When I went back to the door, Isaac had locked it. No cell phone in my pocket either! Fortunately, the front door was not locked thanks to Carly trying to make an early get away to the truck before Shawn was ready. Glad I have a sneaky 4 year old. She saved my day.
It's so funny how Isaac and Malak are doing such similar things. Of course they are just something like 1 week apart in age.

My lock out this week wasn't near as exciting as yours! The kids LOVE keys... and living on a farm there are tons of keys in ignitions and switches.

Yesterday they got in our big van and were playing. When it was time to go somewhere, all the doors were locked with the keys inside!
