Fort Worth here we came!

Look everyone this is Gladney! Eric and I had never been there...until this weekend. We attended a 3 hour seminar about different medical issues in international adoption and it was wonderful! We wern't sure what to expect but it was taught by a doctor who specializes is such things and she had so much good information to pass on to us uninformed people. There was also alot of good talk about attatchment and bonding issues and ways to deal with it- we found it all to be very helpfull and feel a smidge more prepared for Malak to come home. :)

Anyway, Gladney has a beautiful campus, as you can see from the pics and seems to be a well oiled machine! I wish we could have been there durring the week so we could have met people like Mary and Kathleen and everyone who is such a huge part of this journey. Oh well, next time.
I highly suggest any of you adopting parents out there to enroll for any of Gladney's training courses- if you are anywhere near Fort Worth...which we are not...that's right folks, we left our house in Oklahoma City at 4:30AM to be at this thing- that was the not-so-fun part of our trip. But I must say it was worth it and we thouroughly enjoyed our time there. GOOOOO Gladey!!

Oooooh...aaaaah....

With Malak being the fourth adoption in my immediate family, and as the day of his arrival grows closer and closer, I have just been feeling a rush of emotion as I consider adoption. More specifically ... the theology of adoption. My youngest grandson will know SO much more about God's love than the rest of us! Malak will know about being CHOSEN, and UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, and being REDEEMED! I'm proud of you two and can hardly wait to see how God will use you in this adventure! I love you!

Cool thought Kevin!

I'm glad you guys had fun at Gladney. We'll have to chat so you can tell me everything you learned about Guatemala too.

Hey Tara! Hopefully Renee and Geert are getting some relaxation during all the rain! I have a whole closet full of clothes for Ian. I just can't help myself. We have been buying 6-9 months and hopefully he will be able to wear them. I want to buy everything and so what if he can't wear it, we will take it to the orphanage when we go and leave it!! It satisfies a need that I have now during this very difficult time of waiting! LOL Oh well, back to waiting!

i am glad you guys were able to get some inside information. it's so convenient that gladney provides things like this for you. yeah gladney for not only helping little babies get to people that love and adore them, but for preparing the awaiting adorers so they are not overwhelmed later on.

I would love to hear some of the things you learned on attachment and bonding...just curious to make sure I am doing everything right. :)

Coffee soon? Yes, I think its a need. Charles and Silas can stare at each other this time.

Tara,
We do have so many changes happening but they are all wonderful! We found another family that is ahead of us in the process waiting for a boy. They are acutally 3 days ahead of us!!!
Our contractor says that our house should be finished by November-December. It puts things kind of up in the air about where we will bring the baby home to. Oh well, those are things to be worried about after we get the referral!!! (Wonder when that will be???!!!)

Maybe we can travel together...I would love that! Are you getting the 3-5 month quote for a referral too? That is what Gladney told us, but I am not counting on it taking that long. In fact...I will be really sad if it does. The longest I've seen a Gladney family wait for a referral for a baby boy is 6 weeks. What about you? Have you read anything different. There is a family with Gladney that got a referral in July and just came back this last week...they only waited 3 weeks for their referral for their 4 month old baby boy. What are your feelings on it? Cortney and Lindsey's referral will give us a better idea. My email is Breedlove75@hotmail.com. Feel free to email me anytime. I am getting really anxious...I am ready to go!

Man, I would love to go a Gladney training but it's pretty far away. We did find an international adoption class/clinic that we can take locally. We've signed up for it for Dec.

We made our blog "public" today. We decided to share it with all our friends and family. Most of them didn't know we were adopting until they read it today. :) I feel a little exposed but it's a good thing. :)

The other family waiting is the spirit of the coconut one one my site. They were official on July 31st. If blog stalking becomes a crime I will be in BIG trouble!!! My husband makes big fun of me. While Renee was gone on vacation I had to be super-stalker to make sure I didn't miss someone getting a referral!!! I saw Amy Breedlove's post on your page. We too will be very disappointed if it takes 3-5 months. We have seen blogs of baby girl referrals that are have taking forever but we are hopeful that our baby boy will come quick!!! (Even though his official nursery will not be finished for months!!!) I think if I didn't have the blogs I would go crazy wondering if everyone else was as anxious as me!!! Take care and have a great week!
