It's official...

It's officially official! Malak is ours! :)
It only took us a measly 20 months to finally get Malak readopted. Most people do it about 6 months after brining their child home... Not us. Nope, we thought we would draaaag it out. I like to be different, go against the grain. I figure if everyone is doing their re adoptions right away, shoot, I'm going to wait 2 years. FYI, it's what the cool kids are doing. (well, now :) The good news is that we did it ourselves. So instead of paying a lawyer over $2000, we filled out the necessary paperwork, filed it at the courthouse and went to our court hearing by ourselves... It was SO easy. Totally worth it. If any of you other Oklahoma adopting families are wanting to save yourselves some money- feel free to email me (daisytara at hotmail dot com) and I will give you all the info/paperwork you'll need and a step by step how-to. Easy peasy.
Remember today when we were in the silent court room and the judge entered the room and they said, "Presenting the honorable Judge Graves" and Malak yelled, "Oh my gosh! That's so crazy!"..... And then the judge asked Eric to take the child out of the courtroom?? Yeah... That was awesome. Or horrific. But funny now. And quality material for the baby book (or blog)!
In other exciting news in t-minus one hour I am taking Malak to his first hair appointment at the salon to get dreadlocks. Woot! I am afraid it will be a nightmare getting him to hold still for 2 hours (yes, 2 hours) but nothing good was ever gained without a little (LOT) bit of blood sweat and tears. So we will sit in the salon and peacefully eat crackers (gluten free), suckers (sugar free), and juice (made from vegis) whilst watching quietly a video on the laptop. Please Jesus, keep him happy... and keep him from screaming... and keep him from all the things I know he will do in those 2 hours.

Remember this cute little fella when he was hairless? :) Sweet baby...
(I shall call him... Bald Malak)
Goodbye sweet afro.... :(

Oh come on, this is a little funny. My husband "loves" it when I play dress up with our son.

**UPDATE! **

OK! We're back from the salon. The hair has been did. He screamed bloody freaking murder when she washed his hair. (Why? I have no idea.) Two and a half hours later we went through 5 suckers, 6 crackers, one orange and one sippy cup of juice... and he took about 200 pics with my camera.. and we sang every song ever written... and we prayed for every person we've ever met (Praying is his latest hobby. Sweet boy!)... and we played with orange peels... and we pretended he had a ginourmous hat on when he had to sit under the funny salon hair drier thingy.
All in all, it went well! Because his hair is so soft, she just did a million little double twists on his head so that his hair would learn how to stay put and tangle up. We will go back in a few weeks for her to put the actual dreads in. Can't wait!

Here's the twisties. :) Heehee. Kinda funny...

So cute! I can just imagine trying to get a little guy to hold still for that long, good job mama!

i hate to say it but he looks...older! So adorable. But I know how mamas don't like to know their children are growing. It sucks. We are going to do the readoption ourselves too though we are not as cool as you guys :) I was hoping to do it within 12 months but hey that may not work either...

Cute, cute! I have thought about locking Ezra's hair... you should email me with info on how much these visits cost... I'm sadly forced into having all decisions made by financial practicality these days!

Oh, and we're in the cool club TOO! We just did our readopt on January 8... and we brought the twins home early April 2008! 21 months later! We also skipped paying out the wazoo for an attorney and it was so worth it! (We're in Colorado, so probably a little different process, but easy nevertheless!)

YEAH for being US Citizens!!!

Sweet! I was looking at my blog just yesterday and thinking about writing something but I was speechless... Maybe I could take Izzy to get dreads. then I'd have something to blog about.

Cuteness! I used to double twist Silas' hair all the time and haven't in a long while. He's gearing up for dreads too....debating on doing it myself or taking him in. Hmm....Yeah on making Malak legal!! We did ours on our own too, so simple! Ye hah, now filing for citizenship with the feds.....doing that soon.
