We (me, Jenn and Kim) have found a super cute new crafty project! We made these little rag dolls for our kiddos. I made our family-Eric, Malak and me. Can you tell who is who?? :) They were super easy to make and it was really fun to pick out fabric that matched our personalities! I know that dolls are kinda for girls...but when boys are little, who cares? Not them for sure! And how fun would it be to have a doll of yourself and your family?! I'm not saying he has to brush their hair and get them dressed for prom, but you know just carry it around instead of a stuffed animal...please tell me if this is too weird for a boy...I am nervous now that I am sharing it with the world.

Now I just want you to make us some because I can't even sew on a button!! Super cool.
I can make you some!!
Can we have craft night? Those are too cute! And I think Malak will be fine with a doll family...but what do I know?
OMG, you should sell those! They are adorable. I'd definite buy a set from you if you started making them!
And I don't think it's weird to give your boy a doll... Emmitt had a little tiny baby doll. Now, he just chewed on head, but he did have one... :)

Hi Tara, this is Jeana Sorrells, Kellie Carter's sister, she gave me your website link. Anyway, we have a 17 month old little boy and he plays with his sister's babies all the time. I was actually thinking how cool it would be for him to have a more "boyish" doll like the ones you made. SO CUTE!! I love them...did you make them out of a pattern or something? SO CUTE!! LOVE THEM!!
And I have read your blog and we are keeping ya'll in our prayers. I hope your baby gets to come home with you soon! I bet he's precious!!
Dr. Dad says that Malak won't have the appropriate schema or abstract operational thought necessary to even know what a doll is, so don't worry. I think the best part is that you put the Eric doll in a Boavista shirt!
You are so creative!! I LOVE them!! I am not even going to try this one...remember how I did on the letters:-)
Um, TOTALLY NOT too weird for a boy! :) I love the dolls. Thanks for sharing that idea. It's too cool. Some boys play with dolls too when they are little. Ask some older guys (in their 40s) you know if they ever had a "Dapper Dan" doll.

Way cute for a boy... or any kid. If you are going to make them for Jennifer and Jody, can you make Abigail and her new sister, too?:)
Oh, and I remember when my baby brother could not be parted from his "My Buddy" doll.
"My Buddy, My Buddy, Wherever I go, he goes!" (yes, child of the 80s and proud of it!)
Tara
Hello, I frequent your blog from time to time, and I must say I LOVE these dolls!! They are too cute! My nephews definitely have some doll time ever now an then. You are right, when you are little, "who cares!" Nice work!! You little boy will love them, I love that you did the whole fam!
I love love these! Seriously Tara you could totally sell them! I asked Silas what he thought and he says "ah fella gallo (I like that) baby". So I think it passes the boy test. And well my kid is cool so I think they are cool for boys. There ya have it. When you start making them to sell on Etsy, let me know. I have two small children that would love to have their own Taration (Tara Creation, yeah I know I know, I'm weird sorry can't help it) Doll.
These are adorable. What a great idea to have a family of dolls. Both of my kids would LOVE these. After we know who our future kids are...and after you start selling these...I want a set for us! They are just sooo cute and perfect for kids to pretend with!
Wow, they're really great! I make Waldorf dolls, and I appreciate a boy with a home made doll.
Hi Eric and Tara,
You don't know us but we were scrolling through the blogs and noticed that you may be getting your court date before us. Would you mind emailing us because we would like to talk with you about your trip. Thanks so much and we look forward to hearing from you.

Too cute! No need to be nervous about what your son will think about the doll. How could he not love it? Handmade by his Mom with such love and thought put into it - it will be cherished. I think you might have just started your own business.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! THOSE ARE THE BEST AND FUNNIEST THINGS I'VE EVER SEEN! I used to play with so many dolls when i was a kid...so it's cool.
I can't wait to buy him a black cabbage patch doll!
will you make me one?
Martha Stewart Silvestri! The dolls are so cute. You should sell them, I would buy the Alexander family:)
teach me. they are so cute.
You should for sure sell them Tara! Crafty Crafty girl.
I am seconding Christie's comment... I want a craft night and I want to learn this trade of yours. I promise not to sell them, I just want to make our family!
Crafts and Margarita Night?? YES!
LOVE them! You are one super talented lady! I confess, along with some other comments here... that I cannot sew anything. at all. So, when you come to NC you can TEACH me!!! wahoo! Oh, and Pete loves babies so don't worry about that. It's all about the male revolution... the one where they become macho AND caring and nurturing all in one. That's the best kind of man, amen?
Happy Easter!

Are you kidding me with how crafty you are??? Seriously, SO cute! And it is completely normal and appropriate for boys to play with and have dolls. He will love them, especially since it is his family! So sweet!
THos are CRAZY cute! do you have a pattern or did you make it up!
OK one more thing Tara. What agency are you using? i am too lazy to go back and reread your old posts.....
Oh my gosh - those are so cute! And boys can and should have dolls to carry around - why should the girls get all the fun? Please tell us how you made the dolls and how we can all do it!
-Shasta
Those are the best things I have ever seen. I can envision myself dusting off my mom's old sewing machine as soon as I get home. Is there a pattern out there somewhere?
-Nia

Those are too unbelievably cute! I am so impressed! Malak is going to love them!
Yeah, we're twins, except you seem to be the cool one who can make cool stuff. I'm the lame shy twin :(.

OK, how/where did you get the patterns for these? There is not way I would even so much as attempt to make them, but I would pay someone to.

No WAY! Those ROCK! Why haven't you started a business for them??? Honestly, I'd pay you!
I have heard of the watering bucket - Craig's Dad & stepmom have several at their house. The only problem is I think that they attract mosquitos, although otherwise its an awesome idea!!!! :)
Cindy
I have a couple pictures of your little man. Send me an email and I'll get them to you.

I'm coming out of lurker mode to comment on these awesome dolls!! I LOVE THEM! I've been following your journey for quite some time and debating whether I should badger you for an order or beg for the pattern? Since I see many people are pushing for you to sell these dolls, I'll start with that proposal as well! I would order my whole family (and my two kids are BOYS)!!
Also, I would be over-the-moon excited if you'd share where you found the pattern for these beautiful dolls. If you are not going into business anytime soon, I'd still love to have some of these dolls...even if it means I have to butcher some material on my own! hee hee!
Email me at: number_one_nun@hotmail.com if you'd be willing to share the pattern or take my order!! ha! I could share our adoption blog link at that time as well!
Thanks!
Maria

Okay Tara ... the dolls ARE adorable!!! (and yes it's totally acceptable for boys to play with dolls, how else are they to learn to be SUPER dads!) ..... but come on girl ... amuse us ... it's been over a week since you've posted something new. Come on ... you're always up to something! :) We need something else to read while we wait for the special day in history coming up! :) ~Shelly
So sweet! They are precious! Malak will love them! How long did it take you to make each one?
