One month later...

Alright, I only expected about 4 comments on my last post but 100 will definitely do! :) Who knew anyone still read this thing?? I would like all 100 of you to know that now that I know you read this blog, I fully expect to get exactly 100 comments... on every post. :) That stipulation was in the fine print. (quite possibly so fine you couldn't see it) But really, come on, even if you just stay anonymous, it would be glorious to know if you're still reading... It would warm a girls heart and quite possibly make her want to blog more often. I'm just sayin. Also, I am so intrigued by all the anonymous comments... who are you? I kinda (really) want to know... maybe you should give me hints. That would be a fun game! (for me anyway) Or maybe I don't even know you... So very intriguing.

The other day I woke up with a stiff neck. Not sure why. Later in the evening I was in the shower and reached for the soap and my muscle spasmed or I pinched a nerve or something and I was in excruciating pain. I felt like I was being stabbed with a dull knife that was being twisted in my neck or like someone was trying to rip my head off. You probably don't know what that would feel like but trust me. It. Was. Unreal. Poor Eric was like a deer in the headlights... (you should know that I am not a crier. Usually I am a cold hearted snake) Picture me standing in the shower suddenly sobbing uncontrollably, tears streaming down my face, begging for drugs to make the pain go away. He hands me 4 Advil and I can't move so he basically spoon feeds them to me as I am crying, freaking out. (I might go as far as to say I was wailing... I don't know if I've ever wailed but I like to think I came close that fateful night) It was a sad sight. But Eric was helpful and got me into the bed (still FREAKING OUT crying, crying, crying) went and got me some real drugs (in the middle of the night) which calmed me down, he also stayed home from work the next day so he could help with Malak and take care of me. Sweet boy.

Want an update on Malak?! I thought you might. :) He is talking all the time now. It is pretty hilarious to hear him copy everything that we say. Except for when he says things like, oh my gosh. (which actually sounds more like, oh my dosh) But when I say it he scolds me with a, "Oh no, mommy, no, oh my dosh". He has also decided to call Eric, "daddy-Eric". Apparently he hears everyone else call Eric by his name so if Eric doesn't answer to daddy fast enough he gets hit with, "EWIC! Daddy Ewic!"

I must admit as fun as it is to hear him say so many new words everyday... A little part of me is sad to see him changing from my little baby to a real live boy. I don't want to forget the sweet little things he used to say...
This is how he used to ask for a bite of food, back in the day when he was a little baby... You know when he was only 17 months old. :)

And because I don't have much to blog about, I am going to give you a glimpse into our oh-so exciting life... Through pictures. (ie, a lazy version of a blog post)

Big cheesy smile anyone?

Around here we also tend to look like Lenny Kravitz.

Picnic at the park...

I posted this pic because until I saw it I didn't realize that I have some seriously bendy elbows! Check it. Ew. I am sorry for the bendyness but thought you should know about it.

You are cute and funny and so is your family. Thanks for the update. I love being first to post. Can I win an award?

I didn't comment on the last post, but I read your blog too. We just adopted from Ethiopia - I think I found yours when you were about ready to bring Malak home and I just kept following it. My husband's name is Eric too and I still laugh when our 3-year-old says "EWIC!" Pretty funny stuff.

Hooray! I'm glad you decided to keep posting. At least your elbows bend that way and don't look like they are still bent when they are completly straight like mine do. Trust me it's even weirder this way. Too bad you weren't at playgroup today. We missed you. But a whole day to yourself sounds pretty glorious.

I too am glad you decided to keep posting! So my question is, did EWIC Daddy ever give up a bite of ice cream to that cutie pie Malak?

I don't really understand blogging but I did see the movie Julie & Julia so I have a general idea. Love your humor & descriptive way you write. So much like your father. Thanks for sharing such sweet stories about your little boy. The love we have for our children is truly indescribable. I'm off to sit with my sick little boy while he still wants me too.

I've been reading since you brought Malak home and I just love your little family. We are about the same age and I have a four year old so I love reading your stories and remembering!

We don't know eachother either, but I've been following your blog just recently. Your son is so cute! Next time you have crick in your next, I suggest you go to a chiropractor. One that utilizes the 'activator method'. They do not crack your back and neck. I've been going to the chiro for about two years and have definitely seen a difference in the way my back feels. One day I had stiff neck, made an appt, and had full range of motion two hours later. It was awesome. Keep up the blog!

Thanks for keeping on posting. So, is Malik throwing any tantrums yet? Isaac is fully in tantrum mode.

I am one of the anonymous, and have been reading since you started the process of bringing Malak home. And randomly, I think I went to jr. high and high school with a friend of yours, Allison Crossley? Anyway, we were good friends back in the day, and still occasionally keep in touch. My husband and I just started the process of adopting from Ethiopia too. Love your blog!

It HAS been forever, friend! And it seems Malak's cuteness has only multiplied in that time.

We should get together sometime, yes? Yes.

(And where is Mal's bike helmet?! I have become the helmet police now that I see kids with preventable traumatic brain injuries. Protect that little noggin!)

I, too, am glad you're continuing the blog! Hooray!

I am one of the anonymous readers. However I usually sign my name. Great to hear your going to keep blogging! Love the Lenny Kravitz look on Malak! Totally know how you felt with the stiff neck. I must have slept wrong I couldn't even sit up in bed I had to basically roll and fall out of bed. The hot shower made it worse. Go to the Chiropractor it did wonders for me!! Made a full recovery in a few days! Lisa from Canada

Michelle- Don't you worry, Malak got more than his share of ice cream that night. we just made him beg for it a little. :)

Jen's friend, Anonymous- Eric's tatoo says, "Seek Justice, rescue the oppressed, defend the orphan, plead for the widow"

Anonymous who wants to stay anoymous- GRRR. Now I am even more intruiged!! Who are you?! :)

Rebecca- YES! Malak is definitely throwing tantrums! He loves screaming while throwing himself on the floor and rolling around. It is just GREAT. He will be 2 next week but it feels like he's been 2 for oh so long.

Mary- I think Allison told me about you! Congrats on the adoption! Let me know if you ever get a blog, I'd love to follow your story! :)

I comment from time to time anonymously. I voted for Malak in that contest about the cutest baby...for a radio station, possibly? I found your blog linked from Amy Bottomly's blog, which I found in spring, 2007. My husband and I will adopt someday, if we ever grow up. I love following all the Ethiopian kids on blogger, so you can't abandon the blog!
