My first time...

All day Malak has been saying, "Happy Mother's Day!"...
which sounds more like, "Happy Happy Mftdlay!"
Today was my first Mothers Day with Malak here! (I was his mom this time last year but it was right before we left to pick him up in Ethiopia) Eric got up early with Mal and "they" (we can pretend that Malak helped) made me breakfast in bed.
(Notice that I was so very gracious and posted a picture of myself all gross and morning breathy?? Your welcome. Also notice that Malak is, for some unknown reason, sucking on my finger....weird. I should've posted the picture taken right after this where his hand is completely submerged in my glass of juice. Nice.)
Eric was very thoughtful and made me everything that I am allowed to eat. (I have an ungodly amount of food allergies, so eggs, bacon and oatmeal are the only things this girl can eat without barfing) It was all delish!
They gave me a lovely little necklace (and earrings) that I have been "needing!!" It's from Junk Posse...the round world pendant says, "I would go to the ends of the earth for you"....
(I know it's a little hard to see, but I promise that that's what it says)I LOVE IT.
I thought about having Malak's name engraved on the back, but decided I want it to be representative of all our children...wherever they are in the world.
While the boys played and got ready for church, they locked me in my room...I lounged, I ate, I read, I played on Facebook, I took a bubble bath...it was glorious. I am beginning to see what all the hype's about for this Mothers Day thing. IT'S FUN! After church we went down to the Deep Deuce District to a new restaurant called, Sage, for brunch. It was such a lovely place and their food is all natural, locally grown and organic...it was amazing! Seriously, my new favorite. I got some stone ground, whole wheat oatmeal waffles with sweet butter, maple syrup and fresh fruit and Eric got a fritata with homemade spicy sausage, havarti cheese, vegi's and potatoes with a balsamic glaze...um...YUM.
Me and my baby...he had just woken up from a post church/pre lunch nap and was all cuddly. :)
Whoa. The sexy windblown look. Or the not-so-sexy-at-all windblown look. I think it should be known that the lovely face Malak is making in this pic is the same one I see when he's pooping his pants. Nice. I'm glad we have it on film now.

Happy Mother's Day!

I was totally at Sage last night on a late-night food run from the library. They have some really good prepared food items. And cupcakes.

The title of this post is a little misleading... I'm just sayin'

Sage sounds like the hot new spot! Lets go there this week... or in 2 weeks when I get back from my 2 week sabbatical in Iowa. Happy 1st-with-Malak- Mothers Day!

Dear Stacie and Amy, Get your minds out of the gutter. :)
Christie, I know! We had the chocolate, peaunut butter cupckae...SO GOOD. Way better than Cuppies and Joe. (yeah, I said it)
Gina, I thought of you the whole time we were there. And we most definitely must go together. It's right down out alley. :)

Oh my goodness, the pooping face. Hilarious. Abe makes a very similar raised eyebrow look, stands very still and whispers a small, "poop." Happy mothers day to you :) Sounds like it was divine.

Love the photos! I love it that you shared your picture of breakfast in bed. I always ask that the kids NOT take a picture when they make breakfast in bed... it's uuugglllyyyy. But not yours... you look fabulous and happy. So glad you had a great mother's day! Malak is wonderful!

You're Mother's Day sounds so relaxing and great. Mine was not quite that relaxing, but still nice.
I agree with Chelan, you posts are very funny. Although I don't think you learned much of that from me. But you still make me laugh.
