Spagetti and round 2!

Last night we made spagetti for dinner. It was feeezing outside and it felt so nice and cozy to have a delicious warm meal simmering on the stove top while Er and I cought each other up on the happenings of the day. (The highlight of my day was Malak throwing the HUGEST tantrum in Target- hitting, thrashing and screaming were all involved. Good times. I have heard of the terrible two's but apparently we are paving the way for the terrible 13 month olds) :) I am posting the recipe for the marinara/meat sauce because it is pretty much the best you will ever have. No really, it should win an award for deliciousness or something. We served it over whole wheat noodles and with a crusty french bread in the side.....oh the yummy goodness.
(By the way, I cannot take credit for this is recipe, it's just one that I have come to love.)
1 onion finely chopped
1 Lb. ground beef (I always sub this for ground turkey for a healthier option)
1/2 shredded carrot
1 c. white wine
1/2 c. milk (I use soy since we are all allergic and it works just fine)
1/8 tsp. nutmeg

1 c. chicken broth (or whatever broth you have on hand, I have used beef and vegetable)
1 1/2 tsp. salt
dash of pepper
1 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. thyme
1 bay leaf
2 cans tomato sauce
1 Tblsp. brown sugar
In a large saucepan add the onion and brown it with ground beef over med heat. Drain. Add shredded carrot, cook 2 minutes. Add cup of white wine, cook 4-6 minutes. Add milk and nutmeg, cook 3-4 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and simmer with the lid off until sauce thickens.

Also, I did not realize until yesterday, but Malak has moved on to the second round in the cute baby contest!! The bad news is that there are 4 rounds. :( But would you mind putting in another vote for him?? We can't give up now, he has made it to round 2 people!! Please?? *Don't be tempted to vote for Princess Leah- you will see her when you go to the page...fight the urge.

Pretty sure I'd be voting for Malak even if I didn't know him. He's definitely the cutest!

How can I resist voting for a younger version of my son?!?!?
Malak is just sooo cute! It is almost an unfair competition!:-)

Um, yeah, he is definitely the cutest one there. I mean, some of those kids are only cute because of what they're wearing, but Mal, he's just cute. (Okay, ALL the kids are cute, but you know what I mean.) Anyway, super excited about your spaghetti recipe because I have LOVED it ever since you brought us dinner after Mira was born. Did you use the turkey then? I'm pretty sure I could never talk Abe into turkey, except for the fact that he LOVED your recipe, so if I tell him that's what you used, then he would be all for it.

Totally voted.
Hey remember when you used to do "dwitger" every week? Spaghetti post reminded me. Good times, noodle salad...

Hey! I voted for Mal! I also used my other email address for Josh's vote. :-) I'm sure he'd vote for Malak. I hope he wins! He's definitely the cutest, and I'm not just saying that because he's your kid. Although, it was hard, as you said, not to vote for Princess Leah. Haha. ;-)

love your babe! so cute...btw...I now, as we speak have a huge batch of this spaghettis sauce simmering on the stove. Looking forward to freezing it and using it after our baby is home (court date 12/23) - but we all know how those can go. Sorry for the book on your site - love your writing!
