So many things to tell....where shall I start....

I don't want to seem biased or anything but...Malak is going to be the cutest thing you have ever seen on Halloween. He will be a lion and he will be fierce. I am working on making his costume and as you can see from the picture...he will be ridiculous. He is also going to hate me when he is older. :) (but the costume is obviously not yet finished)

I am now the proud owner of a compost pile! Actually we are using a garbage can as our "pile" and so far so good. I have been driving myself crazy lately, (and my husband as well) trying to come up with ideas of how we can conserve, preserve and wisely use the things that the Lord has blessed us with. Since I am not working now and the cash flow is a bit more limited, I am enjoying thinking of ways that I can do my part in the home-aside from my most important job of being a mom to our son. So we are now avid recyclers of everything from junk mail to tin cans and everything in between and I am amazed at how much our trash has decreased! We have cut our garbage in half at least and it really doesn't take any extra work- my recycle bin is just right outside my kitchen door and I toss everything in there instead of under the sink- it has been great! Lately, I have been realizing how many food scraps we toss out and thus was born the idea for the compost pile. We got a garbage can, Eric drilled some holes in it for aeration and then we just started dumping! I also got some worms to help the decomposition move along a bit quicker. Nasty, but I just tossed them in and I try to never look to closely at the movement in my garbage can. I have been amazed at how quickly it is growing and how much you can put in that sucker- any food items, egg shells, t.p. rolls, newspapers, coffee grounds, tea bags, dog hair (woot woot! Less dog hair in my house is always good), vacuum cleaner contents...the list goes on and on! And Fall is the perfect time to do this because in a few months when spring rolls around we will have the most glorious dirt for our garden! Did you know that gardens using composted material grow 50% more produce?? I speak the truth. :)
I have found the most glorious new product! (well, new to me) My friend Gina introduced me to Everyday Minerals. It is similar to Bare Minerals but I am loving it so much more! I have only tried the foundation, concealer and blush, but they have all done wonders for my skin and make it all smooth, even toned and lovely. The best part about it is that you can order a free sample to see if you like it! (and you will) I just got my free samples a few days ago and they are huge, practically full size! You get to pick 3 colors of foundation, one concealer and one blush and they will last you for weeks! I am always lovin a good deal. And it is all natural, only true minerals are used, it is not tested on animals and is vegan and gluten free....so If you want to eat it but have a wheat allergy...all is well. :)

Note to Malak: One cannot push through the screen door...no mater how hard you smoosh.

Also, I have added about 40 new cuffs to my etsy site...many have already sold out but there are some crazy cute ones...you might need to check them out. :)

Yikes! To compare the FIRST photo of Mal with the LAST pic creates quite a whiplash! Ironically both shots are incredibly cute!
And speaking of pics, your shots of the cuffs look quite profesh! I'm impressed!

You and Eric are so darn clever!! We've been recycling a lot more, but have yet to think of a compost pile. You might have inspired me. :)
On the question about re-adoption:
The judge can waive the 6 month wait. Sorry I was so slow in getting back to you on that one. Take care!!

Impressive, very impressive...the compost pile and all. Wonder if I could talk my hubby into that one. I definitely like the recycle idea and have been pondering the best way to get started. We can talk more tomorrow, but I'm curious how you do it. Separate bins for glass, plastic, etc.??

Oh, and glad you love the Everyday Minerals as much as I do!!!

Yay granola! (I feel like that's my comment to all your posts...) Way to go getting the worms, too! They're supposed to really speed up the decomposition...I will expect a full report on this.

And Malak's costume looks like it will be super cute. And he doesn't seem to upset to wear it...maybe because you already strap things to his chin..

Good job on the compost. We have one going outside too but have not been adding food to it...just might start. And good for you on recycling! Seriously, everybody should be doing that...we recycle just about EVERYTHING! You go girl!

I love your makeshift compost pile!
I've been bugging my husband to build me one...I think he'll be beyond happy to just buy a trash can, put holes in it, and throw in a few worms...Voila...brilliant!

OMG!!!! That is the cutest lion I have EVER seen! And yes, he will hate you, but will make great Senior Year Book picture! haha

You are doing such a great job capturing his life. That will make up for any lion suit pictures you take :)

Looking forward to the final product!

we over here at the grimesfam are loving Malak's costume- and my sister is wondering where you got the pattern? we are dressing our kids like the wizard of oz characters and her son is the cowardly lion! did you use a pattern or are you just that good??

also great idea with the compost. i have been bothering my beloved for one of those too- though i had never thought of just using a trash can. clever. i was going to buy one of those compost containers, but why? i probably even have a trash can here i can use-

thanks for giving me a project- this time is a little difficult and i need something to concentrate on!! thanks again for your prayers. i've been really blessed by them.

Mal is the cutest lion EVER. Love it. You're quite the crafty one. I want a compost but I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to keep my sons grubby little paws out of it.

Yeah, I'm sorry about the "Jehovah Jireh" post. I didn't think about how that would make one think I got a referral. Not so much. :(
