The boys...

We're back! Ok. We have been back for days (since Monday night) but we have also been on our death beds. Hence the lack of blogging. Last Thursday while in Ethiopia, Eric and I somehow got sick at the exact same time. I mean, we actually ran to the bathroom at the same moment. (too much information??) And ever since we have been running to the bathroom every 20 minutes or so. Imagine us, a couple who have been parents for only 3 days tossing the poor sweet baby (who is up ALL night that night screeeaming) back and forth as we switch off running to the pot. It goes on and on like this for a few days in Ethiopia, all the while we are so sick that we can't eat, so we are weak and freaking starving, but just can't eat or it gets so much worse! So we ended up coming home a few days early. Malak did AMAZING on the 30 hour plane ride home. He was an angel. Seriously, Eric and I were bigger cry babies than he was. :) As son as we got home we were greeted by lots and lots of friends and family at the airport and it was so wonderful to see our family Finlay get to hold our son!! We went to the doctor right away and got lots of meds for whatever bugs we had brought home with us and also found out that I had lost 10lbs and Eric lost 15lbs! It was pretty much the most miserable diet ever! We may have been as sick as dogs when we got home, but dangit, we looked good! :)
My parents have been in town and have been taking care of us and Malak as we recover. It has been a lifesaver!! Eric's family has been helping out tremendously as well, it is all such a huge blessing. Today we are starting to feel better and have started functioning again.
I will blog again tomorrow with more info, but I thought you all might want to to know why we have been MIA.
All barfing and diareah aside, Ethiopia was amazing and beautiful and we loved every minute of our trip!!!

LOL... great descriptions! Soooo sorry you two got sick, we had the same weight loss plan as you two! I couldn't believe I'd lost 12 pounds... but decided it was NOT my favorite way to lose the weight! Ugh... so miserable!

Get well quickly and post on all the adventures when you can! Can wait to hear all about it!

What great pictures! Malak is obviously in heaven!
OK, I am curious what caused you to get sick and am praying that we don't get it when we get there! It sounds like a horrible bug. I wouldn't mind loosing the weight, but not that way!!
Can I ask one question - what was the weather like? I am not sure what to pack. From what I can tell on the internet its in the 70's during the day and 40's during the night. Is that what you experienced?
I am thrilled you made it home and can't wait to meet Malak!

Oh, man! Getting sick away from home sucks--especially when you're that far from home. Especially when you're trying to take care of a munchkin! Hope you're all better now!

I LOVE those pictures of your happy, affectionate son with his happy, affectionate daddy. Priceless! And I love the one where you can see Kaydub beaming from ear to ear in the background. (I love him bunches, so it makes me extra happy to see him extra happy.)

Oh my goodness! When I emailed you I thought that you had gotten "M" when you sent the first photo of him out! I began reading all of your posts from the beginning (like a book :)) and just now realized that you JUST got him! I'm SOOOOO happy for you, baby! (I know how much my boyos loved you when you were their nanny!) Happy day, birthday twin! (Give him extra kisses from the boyos.)

The montage of pictures is amazing... every picture captures Malak's happiness and yours. The happiness is SOOOO apparent that your "sickiness" (I like to make up words) doesn't show in any of the pictures.

Malak is beautiful... congratulations!
